#242: Trumpet Hour: Iraq Chooses Iran Over America, Abe Wins Japan’s Elections, Papacy Becoming More Autocratic?, and More

Aired Wednesday, October 25, 2017   ·   08:00 AM CDT   ·   59 minutes
  • This past weekend, America’s Secretary of State said that Iranian-led forces should leave Iraq. Iraqi and Iranian leaders strongly rebuked him—the latest evidence of the strength of Iran’s presence in Iraq, and the fulfillment of a biblical prophecy the Trumpet highlighted about 26 years ago.
  • Japan just held snap elections, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe won decisively. It brings Japan closer than ever to revising its pacifist constitution and becoming an independent military powerhouse.
  • Pope Francis is overseeing some interesting political machinations that weaken the power of the bureaucracy of the Holy See—and concentrate more power in the papacy.
  • And finally, I’ll give you three practical ways that you can build more passion in your life.

Show Notes

Item 1: Brent: Iraq and Iran

- The United States has been deeply involved in Iraq since the Iraq War began in 2003—it will be 15 years this coming spring. Invested a tremendous amount of energy, manpower, military resources, wealth—we’ve lost about 5,000 Americans over there.

- And what is the end result of all that expenditure?

- Well, it’s becoming clearer and clearer that Iraq is becoming a strong ally—not of the U.S., but of iran.

- This is truly an extraordinary development—especially because this is exactly what the Trumpet’s editor in chief Gerald Flurry said would happen—more than a decade before the Iraq War even started!—based on the prophecies of the Bible.

- More evidence of Iran’s victory here emerges all the time.

- To talk about the latest evidence, via Skype from Jerusalem we have Trumpet writer Brent Nagtagaal. Hello!

  • First, catch us up to speed on the latest of Iran’s involvement in Iraq—in the wake of the Kurdish bid for independence.
  • The U.S. responded—Tillerson …
  • Other evidence.
  • Put in prophetic context
  • Where can people go for more information?

15:00 — We’ve been talking with Trumpet writer Brent Nagtegaal—article on by Callum Wood: “Iraq Rejects Call to Remove Iran.” Thank you Brent!

Segment two — 10-15 minutes

Item 2: Jeremiah: Shinzo Abe

- A month ago, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe dissolve parliament's lower house and called for snap elections, a year ahead of schedule—to “seek the mandate of the people immediately.” This past Sunday, he won those elections, quite handily—and it could inject fresh life into his leadership. How might this affect Japan, and Asia, going forward? How might this play into the fulfillment of the Bible’s prophecies?

- To talk about this, we have Trumpet writer Jeremiah Jacques. Hello!

  • Why did Abe call the elections? [scandals, threats from North Korea]
  • Wanting to change the constitution. This is a step.

“long-cherished dream” of revising Japan’s constitution. Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party and other parties in favor of changing the constitution now hold 80% of the seats in the lower house.

  • But he still needs more.

The ruling bloc in Japan now holds 313 seats in the 456-member lower house. That is a solid two-thirds majority. But Abe knows that he has not triumphed just yet. Revising the constitution requires both the support of two-thirds of both houses of parliament and a majority in a public referendum.

  • There is public opposition
  • How significant would this change be?
  • Put in prophetic context
  • Where can people go for more information?

15:00 — We’ve been talking with Trumpet writer Jeremiah Jacques about Japan’s elections this past Sunday. Article on “Shinzo Abe Gains Two-Thirds Majority in Snap Elections.” Thank you Jeremiah!

Segment three

Show ID2: “This is Trumpet Hour—with Joel Hilliker”

Item 3: Andrew: Reforms Pope Francis has made in Catholic Church

- Pope Francis comes across to many as a mild, humble, simple, even harmless man. The reality is that he is proving himself to be quite tough in a number of ways—and believe it or not, he is actually taking steps that weaken the power of the Roman Curia—the administration of the Holy See—and that concentrate more power in his own office.

- To talk about this, we have, via Skype from our office in Britain, Trumpet writer Andrew Miiller. Hello!

  • Tell us about the Curia.
  • How is the pope undercutting them?
  • Some say this is actually making the papacy more autocratic.
  • Put this in the context of history for us. How strange is it for the pope to embrace more-autocratic measures?
  • Put this in prophetic context
  • Where can people go for more information?

- Who or What Is the Prophetic Beast?

15:00 — We’ve been talking with Trumpet writer Andrew Miiller. He’s written an article: “Is the Papacy Becoming More Authoritarian?” Find it on Thanks Andrew!
