Yesterday I read a story about a police officer in Chicago pursuing three suspects on foot. They turned around, shot and killed him. It was just a few days ago in Houston that a policeman was shot and killed while gassing up his car. These kinds of headlines are becoming more and more common. A headline in the New York Times this past Monday declared, “Murder Rates Rising Sharply in Many U.S. Cities.” This is a surprising change from a multi-year down trend in violent crime. Why the change? Why is this happening? We’ll talk about a few reasons behind this terrible trend in America.

At a recent meeting here in our hometown, Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma shared some insights into the challenges facing the United States today, including the Iran nuclear deal, the new epa regulations and several other important topics. This man works in Washington trying to make a difference in the country, yet he keeps bumping up against some major obstacles with the political system—and the administration. We’ll share some of his insights with you.

We’ll also talk about a stranger in your home that you need to be vigilant about.

All this on today’s Trumpet Hour.
