But the Bible makes clear that viewing aging and the aged negatively is totally contrary to God’s law. The young should honor the aged, and older people should reject society’s negativity about aging and instead wear the gray hair, which the Bible calls the “crown of glory,” proudly! The biblical example of Caleb shows that aging does not have to by synonymous with decline. At age 85, he said he was “still just as strong” as he had been at age 40.

Immediately following World War Two, Winston Churchill was voted out of office by the British people. He then entered into one of his renown periods of the “black dog,” especially as he couldn’t lead the nation through to counter what he saw massive threat to the western world, the rise of the Soviet Russia. However, he soon recovered his energy when encouraged by US President Harry Truman to visit the United States for an important speaking engagement. His speech was entitled “The Sinews of Peace” yet is more famously known today as the “Iron Curtain” speech.
