It has been astounding to witness how fast the people of America and Britain are willing to surrender liberties for assurances of safety and security. Of course, there needs to be a balance between confronting an emergency and upholding the law. But how is it that many Western nations were able to so quickly suspend certain freedoms without anyone raising an eyebrow?
