[00:30] Germany’s Transformation (6 minutes)

Germany has increased its military spending since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but most importantly, members of German parliament are in full support of this change in militarism. “For the first time since the end of World II,” wrote the Financial Times, “we could soon see an openly aggressive Germany.”

[06:45] Weather Curses and War (9 minutes)

Heat waves are plaguing farms in North America and Europe. The Economist had a front-page story this week warning of “The Coming Food Catastrophe,” complete with a graphic of sheaves of wheat made up of human skulls. “If … the war drags on and supplies from Russia and Ukraine are limited,” it wrote, “hundreds of millions more people could fall into poverty. Political unrest will spread, children will be stunted, and people will starve.”

[15:20] Australia’s New Prime Minister (29 minutes)

Australia has just sworn in a new prime minister—Anthony Albanese—who is a big proponent of climate change. Albanese left out the concluding statement in his swearing-in ceremony: “So help me God.” The removal of such a pivotal sentence comes in stark contrast to Australian Prime Minister John Howard, who 15 years ago called on Australians to pray for rain in the midst of a terrible drought.

[44:55] Bible Study: Real Help From God (10 minutes)

In today’s study, we examine how the Holy Spirit is actually the power of God, and how it is the greatest possible help He can give us if we are to overcome sin and grow in the grace of God and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
