#133: The Battle for Mystery of the Ages

Aired Tuesday, December 29, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   48 minutes

This year in the United Kingdom, we had a goal to distribute over 2,000 copies of Herbert W. Armstrong’s flagship work, Mystery of the Ages. Why have we put so much emphasis on this book? In the late '90s and early 2000s, the Philadelphia Church of God fought tirelessly to earn the copyright to redistribute this book and many other works of Mr. Armstrong’s, after the Worldwide Church of God said it was their “Christian duty” to keep them out of print. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry gives first hand accounts of that grueling court struggle and explains why we fought so hard to keep Mystery of the Ages in print.

Aired Monday, December 28, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   55 minutes

On today’s show, Stephen Flurry looks back on the events of the year 2015 and explains the magnificent hope that lies just beyond all of these terrible stories. Also on today’s show, the latest on the Mystery of the Ages goal, and a look back at one year of work in the United Kingdom.

#131: Do You Realize How Vulnerable America Is to Cyberwarfare?

Aired Friday, December 25, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   51 minutes

Experts believe foreign hackers could shut down America’s electric grid. The U.S. military is worried that the most expensive weapons system in history and the future of the U.S. Air Force could be brought crashing out of the sky by hackers. Counterfeited microchips—which could enable hackers to disable or subvert infected devices at the touch of a button—are spreading across the world. Anything with a computer chip, from pacemakers to patriot missile batteries, could be at risk. In today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show, Trumpet writer Richard Palmer explains how this electronic vulnerability really is America’s Achilles heel.

#130: If It’s Not in the Bible, Then Why Is Christmas so Popular?

Aired Thursday, December 24, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   51 minutes

Where did Christmas come from? Why do people observe it? How and when did it originate? Does it really celebrate the birth of Christ? And what about the many popular traditions associated with Christmas—Santa Claus, the mistletoe, the Yule log, the Christmas tree? Where did these customs come from?
We were born into a world filled with all kinds of traditions and customs. And most people have grown up accepting these traditions without ever stopping to ask why?
The word “Christmas” is nowhere mentioned in the Bible. The original apostles, who were personally instructed by Christ, never celebrated this holiday. History proves that Christmas celebration, as it is observed today, was started in the fourth century a.d.—300 to 400 years after Christ!
What are the true origins of this day? Many people dismiss the need to understand this truth. Even many who do know the origins of Christmas continue to celebrate it because it is—as they say—a harmless tradition, or good time to spend with the family. But what does the Bible say about observing this day?

On today’s program, we ask why. And consider what the Bible says—or doesn’t say—about many of the traditions this world has come to accept without question.

#129: Your Part in Overcoming Sinful Habits

Aired Wednesday, December 23, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   55 minutes

Are you struggling to overcome a bad habit? Are there sins in your life that seem to keep reoccurring and you can’t get a handle on them? Are you sure you’re doing your part to overcome those sinful habits? It can be easy to excuse sin, to let it linger, by looking at it as just an old habit. For many, the battle to eradicate sin seems too difficult, and they aren’t willing to face it, so they simply accept it as a fact of life. However, God expects us to be spiritual warriors and to go on the offensive against sin. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry gives practical steps to help you do your part in the battle against sin.

#128: Republican Congress Gives President Obama Everything He Asks For

Aired Tuesday, December 22, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   48 minutes

When the new, supposedly “bipartisan” spending bill was quickly introduced before Congress last week, House leader Paul Ryan said he wasn’t happy about the process, but that the Republicans had “made the best of it.” Meanwhile, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Democrats succeeded in blocking off Republican attempts to advance “their ideological agenda through the budgetary process.” The Democrats are looking at this new budget as a success—they’ve received funding for everything they wanted. How did this happen in a Republican controlled Congress? And what does this indicate for the future of the country? Listen to the latest Trumpet Daily Radio Show to find out what the new spending bill means for America.

#127: Europe’s Year of Crises, and the Impact of Daily Radio

Aired Monday, December 21, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   45 minutes

This has been a rough year for Europe, and there are no signs 2016 will be any easier. As one of the founding fathers of the European project said, “Europe will be forged in crises, and will be the sum of the solutions adopted for those crises.” Europe is being formed, whittled down, and shaped by these intense troubles—and it’s all playing out just as Bible prophecy said it would. To find out how, listen to today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show by Stephen Flurry.

Also on today’s program: an update of the Mystery of the Ages goal for the United Kingdom, and some inspiring history about the impact of daily radio in God’s Church.

Aired Thursday, December 17, 2015   ·   07:00 AM CST   ·   44 minutes

Prophecy is being fulfilled at a rate like never before, and God’s work is pushing forward with great urgency. As the work moves forward, God continues to measure His people. Herbert Armstrong said that only those whose hearts are in the work will grow spiritually. Young or old, God expects us to do our part to keep pace with God’s work. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry explains how you can keep up and ensure spiritual growth each day.
