By some measures, the world is getting better and better. Poverty is going down, while literacy is going up. Violent crime statistics are dropping, while IQs are rising. Child labor and exploitation is being eliminated, while human rights are spreading. We even have less pollution and fewer oil spills than just a couple decades ago. At the same time, many people are more and more concerned that we are approaching a time of world war and global catastrophe. News commentators are using words like Armageddon and apocalypse. How can you explain this paradox? Is it possible to reconcile these positive developments with all the bad news and the rising anxiety? Is the world getting better and better? Or are we poised for World War III? Or is it possible that both these things are true? We’ll answer these questions by taking a square look at current trends, history and Bible prophecy.
