- The war in Ukraine has boosted oil prices and is waking people up to the cost of dependence on Russian oil. This has major implications for the global economy and countries all over the world. In America, the Biden administration seems unconcerned about this; in fact, some people are happy energy prices are high. But it could drive the U.S. into recession.
- In Europe, which is even more dependent on Russian energy, leaders want to punish Russia for invading Ukraine by boycotting Russian gas. But this is very complicated, especially for Germany, which has been building strong ties with its eastern neighbor.
